To shave one's head today is a statement, a defiance of the status quo. Like swimming against the current, these women stand in front of the cannon of beauty, unflinchingly.
It is also a departure from their femininity,
snipping away a prominent symbol of their sexuality.
From this violent act, a nakedness, sensible and touching, emerges.
It is this fragility, this force which I have chosen to pursue.
Who are these women?
What place do they occupy in society; in the
egalitarian struggle between man and woman as it touches upon paroxysm?
Heads shaved and scalps shorn, these women are still sensual and indomitable.
